Muslim Students Association at Georgia State University

Georgia State University is a diverse institution with about 30,000 students. It is located in the heart of Atlanta, a hubbub of commerce and industry. The Muslim Students Association at GSU is equally diverse; Comprising of students from all over the world!

We aspire to be a uniting medium for Muslims on and off campus. To that effect, we organize a plethora of events including Friday Prayers, lectures on various topics, weekly outreach tables about MSA and Islam, Islamic awareness events for GSU students, and social events like picnics, eat-outs e.t.c. Our diversity greatly enhances the quality of our events. Different modus operandi also make every event have its own distinct touch!

Our sole purpose is to achieve the pleasure of Allah (swt) in accordance with the following verse from the Qur'an:
"And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allah, and be not divided among yourselves, and remember Allah's Favour on you, for you were enemies one to another but He joined your hearts together, so that, by His Grace, you became brethren (in Islamic Faith), and you were on the brink of a pit of Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus Allah makes His Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.,) clear to you, that you may be guided."

TODAY: Divergent: Cultural Practices vs. Islamic Law & Final Day to Nominate or Apply to the Board!

Remember our final event of the year, Divergent: Cultural Practices Versus Islamic Law, takes place TODAY, Wednesday, April 15th in the Georgia State University Student Center Ballroom at 6 PM! 

We will be bringing in special guest speakers Mufti Hussain Kamani and Mufti Samir Wahid to tackle the pressing issues that cultural traditions may sometimes have when tied to religion. We will also feature a Q&A session in case any of you have any burning questions.

This event is open to EVERYONE in the Atlanta community! Be sure to bring your parents, kids, siblings, friends, and other relatives along for this truly memorable night. 

Tickets for this event will only be $10!

Divergent: Cultural Practices vs Islamic Law

Also, TODAY is the last day to apply or nominate others to the MSA Board of 2015-16! 

Nominations will run from April 8, 2015 to April 15, 2015. The nominated person will be contacted to accept or reject the nomination after which time they will be asked to fill out a detailed application. 


Voting will run April 16, 2015 to April 26, 2015. During this time nominees may upload a campaign video or send a typed up description expressing who they are and what policies, and vision they have for the Georgia State community. This is optional but HIGHLY encouraged. Nominees may NOT utilize a banner, offer free food or promotional items.
